Last weekend finally saw our first race of the year after York Small Boats was cancelled due to flooding. Our beginners braved the freezing temperatures and raced at Liverpool Novice Head run by Liverpool University Boat Club at Runcorn. It was their first chance to showcase all our hard work so far, and our crews did not disappoint, with highlights including wins in the men’s and women’s 4x+ (yes coxed!), and 2nd place in the men’s 8+ (A). With strong performances from both women’s 8+s and the mens 8+ (B) we won the Victor Lodorum as the highest placing club overall. As well as our beginners debut rowing event it we also saw the start of our Beginner Racing Captain’s coxing careers, after a particularly wet session for one of them. Well done to everyone involved, a first of many exciting race weekends for our club this season. Big thanks as well to Cross Keys Izuzu Garage in Morley for lending us another truck to help tow the trailer!
